In these troubled and hectic times of Covid-19, it is important to remember that people with pre-existing non-communicable diseases are more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus. This includes especially people with cardiovascular disease, such as hypertension, and persons who have had, or are at risk of having, a heart attack or stroke.

On this page we aim to provide links to reliable sources of information.

For people who live with heart and circulatory diseases we provide links to our member organisations that work with patients and their families, doctors, researchers, scientific experts and many more to reduce the impact of the coronavirus.

For all who are keen to protect themselves and each other, we provide links to highly respected European and international organisations.

At EHN, we monitor latest scientific findings so that we can share them rapidly with our members who are in the front line supporting cardiovascular patients. We also monitor our members’ activities to be able to transfer information about initiatives across countries. Moreover, we are active in the European Medicines Agency (EMA) where we help with advice on how to best communicate facts to cardiovascular patients.

We very much encourage everybody to take their advice only from organisations and people that are knowledgeable on the subject of cardiovascular disease and the impact of COVID-19. Following non-substantiated recommendations can cause harm to individuals as well as increase further the burden on health care workers and health care systems.
