EU Roadmap for the evaluation of Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 on nutrition and health claims on food with regard to nutrient profiles - EHN Response

In 2006, the European Union adopted a regulation on nutrition and health claims made on foods and non-alcoholic beverages. In October 2015, the European Commission launched a consultation on this regulation in the framework of the REFIT programme. In its response to this consultation, EHN states that a pillar of the this regulation was and is the condition that foods bearing claims must comply with nutrient profiles. Therefore, the Commission should start immediately with the development of these nutrient profiles.

EU consultation on the Audiovisual Media Services Directive

From June till September 2016, the European Commission launched an open consultation on the Audiovisual Media Services Directive in the context of the REFIT programme. The reponse from the European Heart Network focuses on the aspect of marketing (advertising) of unhealthy foods to children, whereby EHN demands a watershed on advertising of HFSS foods (high in fat, sugar and salt) between 6am and 9pm.
