On 12 July 2007, the European Parliament adopted a Motion for a Resolution on Action to tackle Cardiovascular Disease.  

On 12 July 2007 the European Heart Network and the European Society of Cardiology, with the support of the European Commission and the World Health Organization – Regional Office for Europe, have developed the first European Heart Health Charter designed to prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD) in Europe.

On 29 June 2005, the EU Health and Consumer Protection Directorate-General and the Ministry of Health of Luxembourg organised, in partnership with the European Society of Cardiology, a Heart Health Conference. At the Conference, the Luxembourg Declaration was adopted.

On 1 - 2 June 2004, the Council of the European Union adopted Council Conclusions on Heart Health.
